Career Growth Prospects of a CNA

CNA as a profession has incredible expansion possibilities. Many individuals train to become a CNA so they can continue to work up the ladder and become a Licensed Practical Nurse or a fully Registered Nurse. A LPN has more autonomy compared to a CNA. They are capable to execute more advanced procedures but still work under the control of a Registered Nurse.

A LPN will typically do tasks similar to those of a CNA but has the experience and coaching to do extra jobs that CNA would not be able to do. The extra jobs may include injecting patients and performing enemas, monitoring catheters, dressing wounds, giving alcohol rubs and massages. They can also prepare procedural rooms administer medication, set up IVs. They're also allotted to perform routine laboratory tests and help physicians and RNs during certain procedures, if necessary.

Such jobs will help them focus on certain areas like IV care, gerontology, long term care or pharmacology. This could assist them with better expansion prospects in their career. Due to specialization and increase in responsibility, a LPN is likely to receive better pay packages than a CNA. The average salary of a LPN is around $40,000, seriously higher than that of a CNA.

But before considering to progress to a LPN, you need to meet various criteria set by the state you are based in. You have to have 200-400 hours of work experience and you'll need to attend coaching classes at some establishment for a median of 1-2 years.

It is an enduring journey to become a LPN from a CNA, rather more so to become a RN. However having an opportunity at expansion in a career is almost always a incentive that will keep driving you to work hard and efficiently.
